When a physical part slides or falls out of its natural place, it is called prolapse. Rectal prolapse occurs when the last piece of your large intestine, the rectum, descends down or falls out of your anus.
While this may appear to be a frightening situation, it is usually not regarded as a medical emergency. The longer you have the illness, though, the worse it can become. Rectal prolapse can be embarrassing and have a negative impact on your quality of life.
Rectal prolapse affects more women than males, especially those over the age of 50. In general, elderly persons with a history of constipation or pelvic floor difficulties have a higher risk of developing the problem.
